Abstract:
Course materials in Math classes are often based on published textbooks which are prepared and designed using industry standards and professional editing tools. The quality of the material offered comes with good formatting capabilities such as styles, fonts, graphs, and symbols.
When it comes to assessment material prepared by Math instructors all the above mentioned advantages are unavailable and therefore Math exams with poor quality are offered to students.
In courses such as trigonometry, algebra, pre-calculus and calculus that include complicated notations poor quality assessment may, to a certain extent, influence the students ability to take the exam. In this paper we introduce a set of computing tools that can offer high quality assessment material. This include the combination of Latex, Java Script and authoring Adobe.
The end product consists of portable interactive documents which are going to be described. A concise description of online test writing using the learning management system as an instructional technology to deliver the exam is also described. Finally, we present an extensive collection of our own customized pools of questions using TeX programs embedded with Java Script smart packages to create "production quality" graphs.
