Abstract:
In the recent years, there has been an obvious inclination towards the integration of e-learning within the educational process. Based on our experience, we believe that such an involvement (if implemented properly) will improve student's academic status and improve the social aspect within the student's academic experience.

In this paper, we discuss how to develop and implement a secure chat engine to be used by students. This system will offer special features that enable students to interact efficiently. This system is Java based, using Java GUI desktop application with several APIs added for convenience to meet the requirements. One of the main ideas we implemented is parsing users’ information via the university's website and to create students profiles based on the extracted information. Additionally, parsing will also be implemented to display various news from chosen sources related to the students. Such an approach requires students login credentials, which are used to access the university's website to assure that only students (eligible users) are allowed to access the system. However, to ensure students’ privacy, none of their credentials will be kept in our database. Furthermore, our system will apply Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cryptosystem to provide a secured communication between students.
