Abstract:
Created in the context of the subject Didactics of Science II, Environment, Biodiversity and Health, specialty of Elementary Education of the Teacher Faculty of the University of Valencia, this proposal combines the philosophy of education as a service, teaching and learning from a constructivist point of view, and ICT.
The weblog “El baúl de las ideas” focuses on training and professional improvement of teachers from the point of view of the transmission of science knowledge using ICT, as well as from the point of view of the teaching of science in elementary education. The essential structure of this blog is determined by educational proposals in three areas: Living Beings, Health and Human Body and Environment, which take into account the progression of knowledge in elementary education. The main feature of these proposals is to start from problems of teaching and learning process of various science themes that appear in the school curriculum, continue developing the contents sequentially and progressively, and, finally end with proposals for activities that can be developed to overcome these learning obstacles. Both didactic proposals as well as the activities are presented from the point of view of experimentation, manipulation, and significant learning.
In this way, two generations of students of this subject (2011-2012 and 2012-2013) have shared their work, using the blog as support and means of transmission of knowledge, and helped future and current professionals with their goal of providing a scientific literacy to their students.
This blog shares educational views and experiences with other teaching professionals, although it can also be helpful for students and their families. Thus, taking into account its structure and the characteristics of the proposals offered, it combines the four types of learning proposed by Johnson and Lundvall: learning by doing, learning by interacting, learning by searching and learning by sharing. The success of this proposal can be appreciated in the quality and quantity of didactic proposals and activities presented, in the ratio of students who passed the subject (100%) and also in the number of visits (more than 8500) recorded from national and international visitors. Keywords:
