Abstract:
The purpose of the present descriptive study was trend study of Literacy in Iran during to 1955-2005 years; the results indicated that the total literacy rate of 15.2% in 1955 to 84.6% in 2005 has increased. Female literacy rate in 1955 was equivalent to 8%, that rate reached to 80.5% in 2005, the rate in men in 1955 was equivalent to 22.4% in 2005 was equivalent to 88.7%. Literacy rate in urban was 34.6% in 1955 that reached to 89% in 2005 and in rural equal to 6.1% in 1955 and 75.2% in 2005. Literacy rate of urban males in 1955 was equal to 46.6% in 2005 to 92.6% is reached. Urban female literacy rate in 1955 was equal to 22.6% in 2005 to 85.4% is reached. Literacy rate of rural men in 1955 was equal to 11% in 2005 to 81.2% is reached. Rural female literacy rate in 1955 was equal to 1.2% in 2005 to 69.2% is reached.The results indicate that during the 50 years the total literacy rate 69.4%, men 66.3%, women 72.5%, 54.4% in urban and 69.1% in rural areas there is growth.
