Abstract:
Project-based learning is a comprehensive strategy for activating the cognitive potential of students. It opens up a wide range of possibilities for a personally motivated and constructive process of acquiring knowledge and skills. Project-based learning is gaining significant traction in educational systems due to its capacity to seamlessly integrate students' knowledge from diverse subject areas and apply it in practical contexts, facilitating the generation of new knowledge, ideas, and values. The role of project-based learning in developing digital competence is indisputable because when working on a project, students must employ critical thinking, creativity, and analysis, and after selecting the appropriate resource, adapting it to their needs and applying it, achieve a specific result. This report examines the practical application of project-based learning in introductory IT and computer modelling classes. The primary focus lies in cultivating students' independent research skills, honing their abilities to analyse and select essential information, and proficiently utilising ICT tools to transmit information. Significant attention has also been dedicated to the interdisciplinary approach that is mandatory for a complete and in-depth study of the project's topic. The conclusions in the report were made based on practical work with two groups of IV-grade students - experimental and control, during the academic year 2022/2024.
