Abstract:
The software industry has one of the highest contribution to the Bulgaria’s GDP from an economic perspective. It provides a valuable professional and personal development for young people and opportunities for career realization and high quality of life by providing the highest average wages in the country. However, the quality of education and the amount of graduates do not meet the standards of the software industry. This requires a constant search for improvement in the approaches to increase the success and quality of university courses in computer science and software engineering. Becoming a computer science expert is usually considered as difficult, and programming courses often have high drop out rates. While searching for better approaches, the process of program learning, its characteristics and specific features were being examined. Opportunities for increasing the accessibility of absorption and success in the training process in programming were presented. Both the programming features and the novice developers’ characteristics have been taken into account. A practical approach has been proposed to increase the success rate and improve the quality of the programming courses, regardless of the particular language of implementation.
