Abstract:
The benefits of the increasing introduction of ICT in the field of culture and historical memory are well known and have been repeatedly presented in specialized literature. The modern information environment and rapidly evolving technologies are stimulating archival institutions to change and adapt in order to be able to respond to new conditions and challenges. Memory institutions need to change with a view to attracting greater attention from different groups of society, to make their collections as accessible and interesting as possible to Internet users.
The objective of this report is to present the networks of the key memory institutions in Bulgaria – archives, libraries and museums, and to indicate to what extent they follow certain priorities in the direction of digitization specifically of archival documents that they keep. Each of these territorial structures has its own specificities, in terms of centralisation-decentralisation, but also some of them work according to common standards and others do not, which applies to preservation, providing access and digitization of archival documents.
In these complex systems of institutional networks will be presented the software developed at this stage – the ‘Information Portal for the Archival-Documentary Heritage of the Bulgarian Revival’. It is created for the centralisation and collection in one place of the scattered information about the archival documents from this period of Bulgarian history, which are preserved in different institutions – archives, libraries or museums. Keywords:
