Abstract:
The process of acquiring a European appearance of the education of students in the specialty of Archival and Documentation Science and Library and Information Management implies dynamic changes in the structure, content, forms, methods, etc. Nowadays, there is a need to create a new concept for the content of the learning process, based on the idea of innovation and flexibility, enriching and expanding the horizons of future professionals.

Changes in existing concepts and models of education are needed to meet current needs and challenges of contemporary professional activities. They should be consistent with the idea of training based on interdisciplinarity and innovative educational practices. This will contribute to meeting current educational, professional and social needs.

In 2019 the project “Information Portal of the Archival and Documentary Heritage of the Bulgarian National Revival” funded by National Science Fund (NSF) under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Hristiyan Atanasov was launched. The project is an interdisciplinary fundamental research whose ultimate goal is the creation of a Portal that collects structures and organizes our existing knowledge of archival materials from the Bulgarian Revival period.

One of the sub goals of the project is the implementation of new methodological approaches of the learning process in the academic and continuing education and for the scientific professional development of young scientists; the creation and testing of new educational content aimed at bachelor's, master's and doctoral students; stimulating the development of doctoral students, students and young scientists, their involvement in scientific and applied tasks, joint publication activities.

The study and application of new techniques allow the introduction of creative and innovative approaches. By updating and enriching the existing curricula a symbiosis between traditional and innovative forms of university education is achieved leading to the professional development of future specialists.

The purpose of this report is to present the process of working with students in the specialty of Archival and Documentation Science and Library and Information Management under the project “Information Portal of the Archival and Documentary Heritage of the Bulgarian National Revival” funded by the NSF. The method of motivating through goal setting, which contributes to the increase of the activity in the learning process, has been used. The increase in motivation is due to the awareness of their own role and the importance of the efforts made to achieve real results and gain the experience necessary for their future professional realization.
