Abstract:
At present, the use of graphic calculators, computer algebra systems, the world-wide web and variety of available software packages, have paved the way for radical changes in the manner in which mathematics is taught. The variety of available ICT sources and lack of mathematics teachers' readiness in using these sources, prompted national and international organizations to set standards for the use of ICT technology as a teaching tool in maths classrooms. For this reason ICT has defined new functions (missions) for the education experts. Moreover it has generated a new challenge in the development of human resources. In this process, training and professional development of teachers, as the primary users of ICT in classroom, coupled with improving their competence and skills in using the technology, is very essential. This paper aims to survey the views and attitudes of pre-service maths teachers on ICT use in Iranian education system. This includes incorporation of this technique in the preparation program of maths teachers, aimed at its best use for teaching maths at school level. This should consider the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and technology pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK) of the pre-service maths teachers.
