Abstract:
Assessment of large classes is a critical issue that can be addressed through the advances of computer Assisted Assessment (CAA). This study involved 500 undergraduate students, drawn through stratified simple random sampling technique, from ten (10 ) faculties and sixty (60) departments in University of Calabar, Nigeria. The purpose of the study was to identify envisaged problems in the use of computer assisted assessment (CAA) for both assessment for learning (AFL) and assessment of leaving (AOL), from the study perspective. The researchers also tried to find out if the students’ concerns about the use of CAA were related to the course they offer, the year of study, their sex as well as their parental educational level using a valid and reliable Computer Assisted Assessment Questionnaire (CAAQ) of four Likert scale designed by the researchers. Data analysis involved the use of t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Discussion and recommendations were madeKeywords:
Assessment, computer assisted assessment, assessment for learning, assessment of learning, large class.
