Abstract:
Our learning and teaching programs and the knowledge acquired at schools are mostly based on one or two dimensional systems instead of aiming at three dimensional (3D) world. The information given through books, television, video and computer screens make students think, imagine and live in a two dimensional world. This enforcement turns into conditioning in time and conditioning becomes an obstacle for comprehension of vital events and objects taking place in 3D.
People think through concepts. Without concepts, there would be no ideas. Concept is an abstraction. It is an abstract interpretation of mind. We produce abstract concepts while thinking and we make comments by playing on these concepts.
This course, in which the ability of problem solving, three dimensional thinking, working discipline, creativity and expression in the field of Graphic Design is improved; is aimed at developing the abilities of students with 3D, abstract studies and providing the learning by using basic concepts in their designs.
Here in this study, which is given as a project subject, it was expected to create a three dimensional visual interpretation of a pre-defined text. This visual interpretation was supposed to depict conceptual sub-meanings of the text with personal exposition and different objects.
Students, who produced quite imaginative creations at the end of the project, comprehended the logic of handling a subject with different perspectives. Keywords:
