POSITIVE EFFECTS OF PROJECT LESSONS WHICH SELLECTS THE COMPETITIONS AS A SUBJECT, FOR INCREASING THE MOTIVATION IN GRAPHIC DESIGN EDUCATION AND ITS RESULTS

Abstract:
Main points in creative thinking are, to think different, to dream, to be original and to have strong senses. One of the main duty of design educators is, to guide the students for reveal their unlimited imagination world.
Today, some authorities-institutions are organising design competitions for their working field. These contests are good chances and important opportunities for students to show their abilities and artistic designs. The products and designs which created specially for these competitions can fulfil the needs of the sector and give support. For these competitions mainly the higher education students join from the related sector and fields.
Students transfer their ideas in to design. They sent their art-works to the competition organisers from the institutions, which have created specially for the purpose and the theme of the competition.
We have conducted this contest as a subject of our project lesson with Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, the second grade students in Graphic Design Department. It has been asked from the students to create a cover for a magazine for The Firm Conqueror, themed as 'Seasons'.
Training process was excited for us and it has been seen that during this project, students has worked in a big freedom and very active so they design many creative works.
At the end of the competition all the participants has honoured from the Firm which has organised this competition. As a result, the positive motivation of the students was significantly increased by such projects.Keywords:
