Abstract:
The aim of this article is to design a course in Econometrics that will help students in Economics with their Final Degree Project (FDP). Econometrics is a subject with great potential in training students to cope with economic problems from an empirical and multidisciplinary perspective as they can apply knowledge from other courses as Macroeconomics, International Economics, Public Economics etc. and therefore can be extremely useful for the preparation of the FDP. The main goal of the course is to introduce students to research. Working individually and in teams, they realize an empirical research project and start thinking and working as economists. At the end of the course they should make a presentation to the class of their results. The course will be entirely given in a classroom with computers, using specialized econometric software as well as economic databases and therefore favors the development of fundamental abilities as the use of IT. This course is a novel and useful educational experience that promotes students independent learning, teamwork and multidisciplinary.
