Abstract:
The new media and the new technologies have provided new ways of producing and perceiving documentary cinema¬. Virtual reality (VR) allows an interaction with reality from a multisensory experience that generates new forms of perception and representation of the culture.

Virtual Reality has provided new ways and channels to reach its audience and the viewer-user, taking into account the new ways of consumption and perception.
As a result of that, documentary and education have had to be reframed in relation to various modes of representation and experience that go beyond films.

The present research proposes the approach of the new technologies with the culture and traditions in the documentary representation of the customs and rituals, in VR 360 video and Ambisonics audio formats, around the production of the Kene design, a traditional geometrical design of the Shipibo-Konibo amazonian culture, which creates new knowledge regarding the way of production and perception of this representation of the reality and new tools for the education.

The analysis focuses on the perception of the users: Shipibo artists and university students of documentary cinema and anthropology.
Using in-depth interviews as a tool for collecting information and analysing the content of VR documentary videos we explore the perceptions, sensations and knowledge with these new formats and their implications in the making of meaning and the ways they produce learning.

The research considers that these new media provides new ways of representation of the culture and allows a new approach to its reality, taking the content to a new experience, more experiential and with more participation of the users, being this more significant in the production of knowledge. This fact calls into reflection on the role that Virtual Reality could assume in education.

The new media allows to provide innovative educational tools that approaches us to different realities through an immersive experience in order to generate a greater bond and knowledge of the realities documented through the sensory experience.
