Abstract:
This paper describes methods for evaluation and measuring of learning outcome in short VET courses. We will use the Kirkpatrick model with the four levels Reaction, Learning, Behavior and Results to evaluate the results of the courses. The project will mainly support evaluation of the first three levels, and in addition investigate possible solutions for the fourth level.

The pedagogical method will be peer learning, aided by use of mobile technology. We will use the Peer Learning Assessment System (PeLe), developed at Sør-Trøndelag University College through the KA3 project DoneIT, co-funded by the European Commission. The data collected by PeLe will give access to immediate evaluation of the first two levels, while the third level will be evaluated through post measurement of the effect a couple of weeks after the course.

In addition to provide an easier and cheaper solution to the evaluation process using mobile response technology, the project will investigate whether “Return of Investment” can be evaluated as part of the fourth level or if this dimension demands a fifth level.
