Abstract:
In the current context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in the educational process is a priority, which implies a significant challenge for teachers. Intending to determine the teaching competencies that enable the effective integration of AI in pedagogical practice, this research analyzed the skills and knowledge they need to use it properly. The methodology used included an exhaustive analysis of academic literature and relevant case studies, focusing on the practical application of AI in the classroom. The results revealed that the key competencies include not only a technical understanding of AI but also the ability to integrate these technologies in ways that enrich learning and foster critical skills in students. These competencies include digital literacy, critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to facilitate student-centered learning in a technologically advanced environment. On the other hand, it identified the need for ongoing training and professional development in areas related to AI. This is not only limited to understanding the technical aspects but also addressing the ethical and social implications of using AI in education. The conclusions emphasize the importance of comprehensive preparation of teachers to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities presented by AI in education. The urgency of educational policies and teacher training programs that include these competencies as an essential part of their curriculum is highlighted.
