Abstract:
Arts Education and especially Scenic Art Education are taking shape as the best ways to stimulate competences like creativity and innovation. Such are the views of international organizations like the European Union (EURYDICE, Arts and Cultural Education at School in Europe, 2009 report) and UNESCO (World Conference on Arts Education, Lisbon 2006). For instance, Álvaro Marchesi, OEI Secretary General (Organization of Ibero-American States for Education Science and Culture), states that new social demands and a changed view of school education has highlighted that it is important for students to acquire the necessary competences that will teach them to learn how to learn, learn to coexist and learn to be themselves. In this context, the role of Arts Education reemerges with strength as a way to form people integrally. The development of creative capacity, self-esteem and disposition to learn find a powerful strategy for their concretion in Arts Education. The present paper explains this idea and introduces the design of an investigation to analyze the possibilities of working with Scenic Arts in Secondary Education.
