Abstract:
History is the study of the past and the fundamental features of this study are the written documents. It is already difficult to create excitement among the children when learning about the bygone years. Needless to say a daunting and arduous challenge faced by most teachers to relate the prehistory information to children of the industrial revolution 4.0 generation of today. This article presents the study of history imaginaries and their diffusion and the impact on the children’s lifelong learning. The links between history and imagination, by illustrating the adventure of a Stone Age man from the Paleolithic period famously known as Perak Man in relation to the contemporary lives in Borneo are discussed. Transdisciplinarity is employed to create a holistic approach and to signify a unity of knowledge beyond disciplines. This includes valuable opportunities for children to improve their understanding and enthusiasm of both history content and technological advancement. This article contributes to the limited current literature on critical analysis of imaginaries and concludes with suggestions on improving the teaching of history in the classrooms.
