Abstract:
Teaching factorization within the context of operational mathematics for technical careers presents significant pedagogical challenges. Understanding general and special cases of factorization is essential for mastering advanced concepts and solving problems modeled with functions of degree 2 and higher. This study describes the design and implementation of 10 interactive scenes using Geogebra and web technologies to address factorization teaching. A committee of mathematics and education expert teachers validated the content and methodology. The scenes were implemented in the operational mathematics course at Pascual Bravo University Institution during the 2024-1 semester, benefiting 1453 students from technical careers. Evaluation of student interactions, both in-person and remote, revealed a significant reduction in mathematical anxiety when working with interactive scenes, in both general and special factorization cases. Likert-scale surveys confirmed students' positive perception of the scenes, highlighting their utility for understanding and learning factorization. This study demonstrates the potential of Geogebra interactive scenes with web implementation as an effective tool for teaching and learning factorization in operational mathematics. Its positive impact on reducing mathematical anxiety and improving academic performance underscores the importance of this pedagogical approach. Implementation and expansion of such resources in different educational contexts are recommended to strengthen mathematics learning.
