Abstract:
This study explores the implementation of a blended learning model for architecture students, focusing on synchronous remote learning of software such as Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, followed by in-person sessions dedicated to digital fabrication. The aim is to facilitate students’ understanding of the importance of digital fabrication in the architectural design process, not merely as a final output but as an integral part of the creative process. The workshop will be divided into two distinct phases: the first will be the synchronous remote learning of Rhinoceros and Grasshopper software. This phase will familiarize students with parametric modeling and programming tools essential for designing complex architectural designs. The second phase will involve in-person activities, where students will apply their knowledge in a practical project: creating a parametric bench. This phase will include the machining and assembly of the bench, with direct supervision and assistance from instructors. It is expected that by the end of the event, students will have a deep understanding of the symbiotic relationship between digital design and physical fabrication. Through this course, students will be encouraged to consider digital fabrication as a vital element in the design process, allowing for greater experimentation and innovation in their future projects. This blended learning model aims not only to improve students’ technical skills but also to enrich their conceptual and creative approach in architecture.
