Abstract:
Family is the basis of society. A good upbringing of a child who is a part of the society is provided with the family. For this reason, legislators have held parents responsible for child care, education and protection (TCL. a.327). This responsibility is a result of custody rights. United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that the child's upbringing is primarily the responsibility of parents (a. 18).

One of these obligations, child's education constitutes the subject of our study. Education covers school education, vocational education and religious education. Responsibility to provide this education will surely be determined by opportunities of parents. In our study, the scope of the obligation of parents to ensure the child's education, its limits, the consequences when not fulfilled and further opportunities for the benefit of the child are evaluated.
