Abstract:
e-Learning platforms, such us Moodle, could be useful to improve the teaching and learning processes. For this, it is necessary to analyze the students’ online behavior and take improvement actions accordingly. Moodle provides some metrics and log data about how students are using the platform. However, there are very few teachers and academic professionals who know how to analyze effectively these log data. The aim of this paper is to fulfill this gap, providing a methodology to analyze Moodle log data and offering new measures, which hopefully could result in better e-learning experiences. Moreover, this methodology will allow monitoring the Moodle platform, analyzing students’ activity and analyzing if there is any correlation with the results obtained by the students in the courses.
This work presents an experiment based on the analysis of some University courses and developed analyzing action logs recorded by Moodle. This is a brief exploratory communication of a work in progress in order to open new paths of research with regard to Moodle platform monitoring and ultimately, teaching and learning processes improvement. Keywords:
