SMALL-FORMAT MEDIA TEXT IN THE METHODOLOGY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the topical question of the linguo-didactic value of small-format news mediatexts and the peculiarities of their introduction into the foreign language teaching practice based on the MOODLE (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) educational platform.
The relevance of the study is due to the fact that in the era of the global information space, the media sphere of language functioning is one of the most active language zones. In addition, the development of the Internet space has greatly facilitated access to various media materials. It is these features of modern communication that collectively contribute to the fact that mediatexts are gradually becoming one of the main resources in teaching foreign languages and, in particular, Russian as a foreign language.
The article reflects the methodological base of both the Russian and European traditions of foreign language teaching.
Research methodology includes an analysis of academic literature on foreign language teaching methods, pedagogy, psychology and linguistics as part of the problem under study, as well as a methodological analysis of the existing practice of using digital technologies in teaching foreign languages.
Small-format texts of the “news flow” related to the basic texts of the media sphere are the object of this research. The study highlights the following characteristics of the small-format news text: authenticity, accessibility, relevance, thematic diversity, linguo-cultural value.
The aim of the study is to identify the structural and linguistic properties of small-format news mediatexts, the features of their functioning in the digital environment, due to the multimodal nature. These features allow us to consider these texts as a linguo-didactic resource. The ability to work with foreign-language media content is becoming of particular importance at universities which specify in the training of specialists in various fields of international relations, political science, international economics, international law, and management.
Small-format news texts of news agencies and text materials of television news programs served as the material of the study.
The results of the study propose criteria for the selection of news media texts for educational purposes and specific recommendations on their use in the practice of foreign language teaching with the help of digital technologies. In particular, they suggest forms of using this type of text in the format of distance and blended learning. In addition, the study presents the stages of the formation of various components of communicative competence based on the analysis of the experience of conducting lessons of Russian as a foreign language at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) (MGIMO University).Keywords:
