THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION’S LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IN A CHILD’S DEVELOPMENT

Abstract:
The concept of environment defines that the environment is a multi-component system, which consists of the thing environment, the physical environment, the informative environment, the psychosocial environment and the natural environment. In the educational process, in the presence of interacting subjects (a teacher and students), the environment components promote developing action that influences the progress towards the achievable results - socialization of the personality, harmonic and creative development.

The article aims to study the psychological impact of the pre-school education institution’s (PSEDI) environmental design on child's mental and physical development, to identify the main factors of interior design and installation: room functions, form, structural elements, decoration materials, and analyse the impact of these factors on child’s safety in the PSEDI.

Theoretical and empirical research methods that have been used in the research: theoretical - literature, regulatory documents and Internet resources research, empirical - customer and user questionnaire data analysis.

Research base: pre-school educational institution „Vālodzīte” (Latvia, Nautrēni) educational program’s the site staff (13 employees). The research has a practical significance because during the research the interior design has been developed for the premises of Ilzeskalns PSEDI group.

As a result of the research activity, the context of the environment was studied, the survey of customers and users helped to assess which interior is suitable for the designed object. Respondents acknowledged that modern, safe and ergonomic interior design could improve both children's ability to perform effective and creative activities, as well as promote their mental and physical development. In the practical part of the research, ideas have been generated, as a result, an interior design concept was developed, which included the determination of function space, selection of suitable decoration materials, colouring, lighting systems, furniture, equipment, textiles, and other elements for PSEDI premises.
