Abstract:
The most important rhetorical and linguistic aspect of an official speech is public speech. In the modern educational paradigm, students have to repeatedly use various resources to provide the reports and to create their presentations. Due to the fact that groups of students are usually large and there is a time limit, it is becoming more and more important to provide presentations in an abbreviated format. In this article, the authors examined the tools used by students and outlined strategies to make presentations more interesting to the audience.

The aim of the research was to carry out the monitoring of the creation of the presentations of 602 students’ from various universities in Russia. Namely, it was considered what technical means (on-line platforms, services), what methods, and forms are being used by students to create presentations. The authors of the article encouraged students in their foreign language classes to resort to modern presentation means, as an alternative to the traditional PowerPoint tool.

Based on empirical research data, recommendations were offered on the use of various services for creating modern multimedia presentations, and it was noted that creating presentations based on these various services is a good means for involving weakly motivated students in the educational process; it helps them heuristically overcome their inertia driven by the habitual way of thinking, typical exercises and move away from the passive reception of new material.
