Abstract:
The Learning Management Systems (LMS) have an increasing influence on the way education is delivered. They allow the sharing, archiving, recording learning materials and lessons. In addition, they assist students and teachers to do their work more quickly and dynamically. They help to manage the attendance, and finally deal with examinations and their evaluations. In Slovakia, the transition for “Baby boomers” and “Generation X” teachers is understandably difficult, as they have been documenting everything on paper from the beginning of their careers until 2020. However, now they undergo a push toward digital technologies to partly or entirely do their job on LMS. The COVID-19 epidemic has required the use of these systems and the electronic processing and delivery of course material.

The aim of this work is to provide an overview of LMS in Slovakia and to examine their potential applications. In order to assess the current situation, a survey was carried out among students and teachers on the everyday use of LMS. In this paper we present the most common LMS in Slovakia, such as EduPage and Moodle, which are used from primary school to higher education.
