Abstract:
Learning English as a 2nd language is a core competence in the Degree studies of the University of Alicante.

Objectives:
1) To assess the level of simultaneous acquisition of new anatomical terms in English and Spanish languages.
2) To assess the level of generic knowledge of reading and writing English.

Methodology:
Surveys of multiple choice questions were conducted in subjects of Anatomy taught in the 1sr year of 4 Degrees: “Nursing”, “Human Nutrition and Dietetics”, “Optics and Optometry” and “Physical Activity Science and Sport”. Those surveys were carried out at the beginning and the end of the first semester of the academic year 2013-14.

Results:
Improvements on the acquisition of anatomical terms in English as integrated learning system content in a foreign language (CLIL) were observed. However, it has been shown that the generic concepts of the English language remained constant or even have slightly diminished.

Conclusions:
In a CLIL environment with bilingual teaching materials, good results of learning are obtained in Anatomy subject integrated with English language.
