Abstract:
The aging population requires more education of health habits to get better quality of life and ensure states of greater autonomy and less dependence. Some training activities of the Permanent University (University of Alicante) are geared for the student to adopt a lifestyle as healthy as possible and positive health behaviours. Under these premises have been given 3 courses in health sciences: "Biology: cellular basis of disease" (BCBD), "Basic medicine: changes in the human body" (BMCHB) and "Basic medicine: fundamentals of human pathology" (BMFHP). They encouraged the collaborative participation of students to facilitate their learning by involving them in tasks engaging and motivating. In BCBD simple laboratory experiments conducted to learn basics of scientific method. Students understand some basic mechanisms of functioning of the body and the origin of certain diseases through knowledge of the structure and function of cells, tissues and organs. In BMFHP and BMCHB is resorted to teaching techniques of "Problem-Based Learning" (PBL) and "role-playing games" to make it obvious the conclusions of the cases raised and better internalize the lessons learned. In BMCHB students understand the changes due to the natural evolution of the human body throughout life and during the process of becoming ill. In BMFHP on the mechanisms that cause major diseases in the human body and its prevention with healthy habits.
