Abstract:
Along with the advent of the “e-” revolution that began in the 2000s, came the issue of cyber security, cyber-attacks and cyber threats concerning domains included, but not limited to e-Business, e-Government, e-Commerce, etc.

As the issue of cyber security in e-Learning is less explored, this paper intends to illustrate approaches that will focus on the management of cyber security aspects related to e-Learning systems.

Moreover, this article sets out to showcase some best practice examples concerning cyber security management techniques in e-Learning, addressing the important aspect of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).

BYOD is on a growing trend not only in the workplace but even more so in the academic environment assisting the learning process. Its adoption allows individuals to access resources, information and services using personal devices (personal computer, tablets, iPad, mobile phone) and it has become a usual practice both in organizations and in academic institutions. However, along with the benefits there are also security risks and threats and this article will also explore the potential negative aspects of using BYOD.

To the same extent, our research also investigates cyber security issues and best practice examples in mobile learning (m-learning), a domain which has tremendously developed in the past years and which presents a high degree of interest with the young generation.
