About this paper:
Conference name: 12th annual International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation
Dates: 11-13 November, 2019
Location: Seville, Spain
Abstract:
The Future Club is a non-school learning event suitable for students aged 12 to 17 years and takes place in the interactive learning environment WBS LearnSpace 3D®. It combines acquired knowledge, recognize relationships and work goal-oriented in teams. This is how individual potential development and joy in learning come together. Project work addresses the 17 Global Goals of the United Nations, which should contribute to sustainable economic, social and environmental development.
The WBS Learnspace 3D® is a three-dimensional environment in which participants can move "as if in real life" enables near-natural communication and social interaction. The simulation depicts a multi-store company building. There, the participants learn and meet in real time, represented by their avatars. The result is a high degree of realism and a continuous sense of social presence, although the learners can actually be in different places, such as in the school or in the home office.
The students work on important questions in small groups and develop their potentials and abilities. Educational coaches look after and support them professionally, organizationally and personally. The young people learn solution-oriented thinking, creativity, responsibility and sustainability awareness as well as empathy.
The focus is on:
• Project work in groups of 5 with self-selected sustainability topics.
• Workshops with experts on topics of education, environment and self-realization.
• Freestyle learning with independent learning and exchange with other participants.
• Individual coaching for pupils.
• Courses on selected topics.
The first pilot project started in 2018 over a period of two months with 14 students from all over Germany. The evaluation showed that the students not only dealt intensively with the 17 Global Goals, but also presented and continued the projects they had developed in their schools. They rated the time at the Future Club as a valuable experience that they wished for their time in school, too.
The side effects, such as collaborative collaboration, the proper handling of presentation software, correct research, etc. were also perceived as very positive by the students.
On the basis of these results, the Future Club is now starting permanently from September 2019. In addition, schools have now also shown interest in the offer and we will carry out project days in presence in German schools.
In the future, we hope to create an international project in which students from all over the world can exchange views on the important 17 Global Goals and learn from each other. Keywords:
