Abstract:
This article presents a contemporary model of font and typography learning, applicable equally successfully to a face-to-face and to an online learning option. The starting positions in the development of the model are presented – the scientific problem has been formulated, the object and the subject of the research, the purpose and tasks of the scientific study, its stages have been specified. The methodology applied in the development of the model is also examined. As a result of the study of literary sources, current program requirements and curriculums in font and typography in the field of higher education, as well as analyzing the peculiarities of the modern practice of the graphic designer with regard to the necessary typographical preparation, the teaching model was created. It is presented in terms of content through educational objective goals and expected learning outcomes, basic teaching and learning methods, planned learning activities, learning tools, learning content with successive thematic units, theoretical and practical parts including a variety of learning tasks. The model has been successfully tested by conducting a pedagogical experiment, in a face-to-face form and in an online form of education in a graphic design bachelor's degree program. The experimental test proves approximate degrees of effectiveness of the model when applied in both forms of training. At the end, some significant summaries and conclusions were made regarding the statistical analysis and others related to the study of font and typography in the application of the created model.
