Abstract:
The European Space for Higher Education has promoted the implementation of numerous proposals for innovation in university teaching helping to improve the learning process and of students.
On the other hand, some of the students of our time belong to a generation which dominates the use of diverse technological devices and get into university with new expectations of the use of information and communication technology (ICT). The use of the ICT has become a need for teachers, not only as a complement of teaching, but also to take advantage of its potential to increase the value in the process of teaching-learning.
The current work describes the experience and the results from a proposal to innovate teaching with first-year students of the subject “Chemical Principles of Engineering”, in the laboratory practices of this subject. All the students carry out six proposed tasks in groups, but each group must complete an audiovisual report of one of them and each group prepares and plans its recording previously.
In the practical session, at the same time the experiment is being done, they create audiovisual material which will become a video after being edited. The finished videos are evaluated by teachers and students themselves. Finally, we open a space in e-gela which enables us to share the material in order to support the students and reinforce the knowledge acquired from a visual resource which facilitates the comprehension of the main points of each of the practices.
The aim of this work is to promote the students’ motivation and their active participation towards the subject, process the information previously settled, experiment and acquire concepts and a procedure in a more long-lasting wayKeywords:
