Abstract:
The paper proposes an integrated software solution for providing e-learning facilities and dedicated academic web services. The portal uses MS technology and provides, as learning services, management content, communication (e-mail, char, discussion lists, blogs) and extensive e-learning facilities for various user categories: students, teachers, program managers, administrators. We discuss the student feed-back consequent to the learning facilities implementation. The survey is created with one of the portal’s built-in tools and reveals a good student perception towards the implemented learning tools and their flexibility advantages. The portal is easily extendable with dedicated web parts. We are currently developing specific compnents for student evaluation, that may be used not only for final grading, but also for continuous student evaluation along the educational process and modelling their educational path.
The information system facilities that are provided into the web portal access dedicated software services from the specific academic information systems. In our case, these services refer to: academic management tools, administrative management tools and research management tools. We also describe means of synchronizing the dedicated databases into a global organizational warehouse, that may be used in an integrated manner by the learning portal.
We consider that the integrated solution we propose for content sharing and communication, as well as for providing dedicated information system facilities, has a good extensibility degree for various organizational frameworks, with significant learning and academic competitiveness advantagesKeywords:
Software services, e-learning system, web services, system integration framework, learning facilities and feed-back.
