LINGUO-CULTURAL ASPECT IN TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE USING MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract:
The main goal of teaching foreign languages at university is to develop the student's personality, his ability to participate in intercultural communication, in the formation and development of a communicative culture of the practical use of a foreign language.
The communicative development of students in the process of teaching a foreign language is carried out due to the correct implementation of the linguo-cultural approach in the classroom, which ensures the assimilation of the language in close connection with the foreign language culture, which includes information about the history, literature, life, customs, lifestyle and traditions of the people of the country of the language being studied.
The article describes the structure and content of the digital educational resource on linguistic and regional studies "Linguistic and country studies of the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand" provides guidelines and exercises for students in the course of working with an electronic course. Particular attention is paid to competencies, knowledge, skills and requirements for students.
As a result of the study, it was found that the use of the Hot Potatoes program in the structure of the digital educational resource "Linguistic and country studies of the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand" provides with good results in teaching, since this program has an interactive form and presents exercises results to a student by evaluating each completed task. It allows teachers to increase students’ motivation to learn a foreign language and their cognitive activity; to speed up the process of practicing and mastering new content of the course; to individualize learning controlling the pace and quality of each task, which contributes to the progress of each student.
The implementation of the linguo-cultural approach using the above digital educational resource on linguistic and regional studies is more effective than using traditional methods because it corresponds to the didactic principles of the educational process, including consistency, activity, visibility, and accessibility, the connection of theory with practice and the retention of learning. Its content takes into account the age characteristics of students, the principles of humanization of education that are relevant in the context of intercultural communication and contributes to the disclosure of creative possibilities of future specialists.
Thus, the use of the digital educational resource "Linguistic and country studies of the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand" in foreign language classes promotes the effective acquisition of linguistic and country studies knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for intercultural communication by students.Keywords:
