Abstract:
The development of information technologies implies the intensive provision of high-tech services in the field of education, the most prominent representative of which is e-learning. However, in order to achieve optimal results, it is important to know the behavior and habits of the learner, his/her value system, social and material status in society or, when providing the necessary knowledge, to build the so-called individual learner profile.
New e-learning technologies increasingly mix the online computerized content for a given course with various blogs, forums and Webinars, where students sometimes use increasingly new and non-platform-validated tablet and mobile applications, which can pose a threat both for the security of the e-learning platform used by a given university, and mostly, for the stored personal data of students.
Hence, it is of particular importance to introduce a methodology for working with the e-learning platform of the particular university, which will maximally protect both the personal data of all learners, as well as technologies ensuring protection of the e-learning system itself and forming an individual profile of the learners.
The introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the member states of the European Union requires the strict introduction of rules and technologies that guarantee the privacy of the personal data of each student, which is also an element of the application of the individual profile.
The paper examines the proposed and implemented methodology for the personal data protection during the creation of an e-learning system using an individual profile of a learner in electronic engineering and specialized continuing education, implemented at the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski".Keywords:
