Abstract:
Introduction:
Quality of education is of major importance mainly because to increasing demand by its stakeholders and educational competitive environment. Define, Measure, Analysis, Improve and Control or DMAIC is a methodology of Six Sigma regarding educational process. The other one is DMADC that entails Define, Measure, Analysis, Design and Verify.
Six Sigma in Tertiary Education focuses on the students’ (internal) and teachers’, families’, society’ etc (external customers) needs and expectations. In addition it uses data measurements for performance improvement. Another outstanding concept is its focus on process improvement. For Six Sigma proactive management is crucial as well as a culture of continuous improvement.
In addition the target of Six Sigma is referring to variation reduction in outcomes by using data and statistical methods with a view to improve excellence achievement, the poor quality diminution and the error free educational processes. On the whole Sigma analytics can lend a hand to continuous improvement in Tertiary Education.
Purposes of the study:
The first purpose of this paper is to present Six Sigma methodologies and their application in Tertiary Education. Secondly their benefits and their support degree in performance improvements are going to be presented.
Participants:
In study students from Greek pedagogical departments were participated.
Conclusion:
Six Sigma analytics made it evidence that its application can result to continuous improvement in Tertiary EducationKeywords:
