Abstract:
Information Literacy is increasingly important in the contemporary environment, characterize by an overabundance of information, rapid technological change and proliferation information resources. In a such information environment, it is essential for students to develop skills in using information as part of the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning. Higher Education is the main area in which information skills development and training have to take place. A successful information skills program depends mainly on the collaboration between library and academic staff, share collaborative efforts to develop and achieve IL goals. That is the topic which will be examined in this paper. It focuses on the importance of faculty –librarians collaboration in teaching IL competences, suggests possible collaborative situations that may ameliorate the felt gap between the two groups. It also describes how can IL be integrated into the curriculum, followed by a presentation and discussion of the benefits of information skills for students.
