Abstract:
Moodle is an e-learning software platform that can potentially be integrated in delivering any subject matter. Although Moodle has been integrated in language acquisition courses in colleges and universities, it is not a panacea for language learning and/or teaching in schools. This proposed research aims to customize this Learning Management System to cater to the needs of elementary and junior high school English teachers in the Arab sector in Israel. The teachers will experience Moodle to prepare for English standardized Meitsav tests. Teachers' motivation and perceptions of Moodle learning management system will form the dependent variables while Moodle components (resources and activities) will form the independent variables. Both qualitative and quantitative measures will be implemented. The research goal is to find how elementary and junior high school teachers respond to teaching English using Moodle, and what their perceptions are of this LMS in general. In addition, students' perceptions of the different components of Moodle (resources and activities) will be reported (based on the teachers' reports).
