Abstract:
The global coronavirus pandemic has brought many changes and new challenges to education. In addition to the transition of most schools to online teaching, the pandemic also affected family education. Many families had to adapt to teaching children from home and moving hobby groups into a virtual environment. The paper deals with the issue of media use by children during the coronavirus pandemic in the Czech Republic from the perspective of their parents. It was the COVID 19 pandemic that, as in other parts of the world, caused the closure of all types of schools in the Czech Republic, that caused children to spend more time in the media, not least because of distant learning. The aim of the presented research was to find out how parents (mother and father) perceive the consumption of media by their children at this time and how parents coped with the new situation. The partial goal of the research was then to find out whether the parents had enough time to help their children with distant learning. The paper also presents the results mapping the way parents spend their free time with their children during the so-called lockdown.
