Abstract:
The covid-19 pandemic significantly affected daily lives of the inhabitants of most countries, as well as the Czech Republic. It has particularly affected the lives of children, who not only have spent their free time through digital media, but also they have had to start using them intensively in education and schooling, regardless of age. The article focuses on how the use of media by children has changed during the lockdown in the Czech Republic, how it has affected the time spent with the media or contact of children with parents and spending free time in the family. The text notes the differences between children with regard to gender, age and the availability or use of media in the family. It presents the results of a study that was carried out in the form of a questionnaire among children aged 6 - 15 years during the first wave of the COVID - 19 pandemic. The paper notes that the massive increase in children's media activities was not always accompanied by increased attention and time of parents, which could have brought increased media risks.
