Abstract:
Internet has become an indispensable part of a modern man´s life, mainly then for young people from the reason of reduced level of parental control, free internet access and the use of such media for the purpose of education. The article deals with risks connected with communication in the present world. It focuses on the selected areas of risk behaviour (especially of university students) in cyberspace and in relation with the use of new media and modern information and communication technologies. It defines online procrastination, negative effect of internet and smartphone addiction (nomophobia) and other kinds of risk behaviour in cyberspace as main risks. Its aim is to point out the fact that except for the range of advantages, the new communication technologies and mass media bring many risk situations which need to be prevented. The text presents the outlines of the study on university students sample. A method of questionnaire based research was applied using CIAS (Chen´s internet addiction scale).
