Abstract:
Following a philosophy of multidisciplinary collaboration between universities and areas of knowledge, in recent years a series of educational innovation projects have been carried out among working groups of the Universities of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU), Salamanca (USAL) and Coimbra (UC). These projects are developed within a methodological perspective that encourages students to acquire knowledge and skills in a framework of autonomous and active learning always having as reference the current professional context. It also affects the great potential that opens the new digital content for educational innovation within the university context.
This paper aims to present the joint work carried out by a multidisciplinary group of professors and students from three universities in the field of educational innovation. The work is circumscribed within an international Teaching Innovation Project (PIE) granted by the Educational Advisory Service (SAE) of UPV/EHU in the last call of the 2018-1019 biennium and involves the direct participation of students and academic staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Vitoria-Gasteiz (UPV/EHU), of the Faculty of Social Sciences (USAL) and of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (UC).

The PIE entitled “Development of didactic materials in the field of nanotechnology through multimedia and audio-visual” links to the educational model IKD (cooperative learning and dynamic), promoted by the UPV / EHU, and its methodological approaches are based on the aspects contributed by the European Higher Education Area. In an academic environment where students today are more audio-visual and digital than ever, it is a priority to start working from a pedagogical perspective under this support. Coupled with this, and thinking about the use of active methodologies, it has been developed teaching materials that include involvement by the direct and active student body, with the support of teachers. Moreover, it should be added that this process involved students and teachers from fields as diverse as science, technology and audio-visual communication, seeking convergence and seeking synergy between both activities.

In this regard, Nanotechnology has been chosen as the “raw material” of the project, since it is of great interest in the training of graduates in Pharmacy as well as in Food Science and Technology. It was intended to expand the knowledge of UPV / EHU students in the field of nanotechnology, both in research and innovation in health and in the food field, which is emerging due to a large number of applications it offers in the face of future technological and industrial development. At the same time and to unite synergies, the students of USAL and UC from the subjects of Audio-visual Genres and Journalism Multimedia elaborated digital and interactive contents linked to the topic of nanotechnology. This materializes a pedagogical practice innovative that unites subjects of very diverse areas and degrees with a common objective.
