Abstract:
Likert scale survey is the main tool in evaluation of teaching performance. Students are asked about the degree of agreement of statements related to teaching received. On the Internet and social networks, binary surveys are mostly used, which offer only two-valued answers. The usual choice is between "I like" or "I do not like". In the present study, the aim was to analize the implementation of binary surveys in the teaching evaluation and comparing with the Likert ones. For this purpose, the students completed the same survey in Likert scale and binary format. One week was left between their completion. This period of time was used to avoid fill out both surveys using the short-term memory. Also, several questions were made about their preference. The results obtained show that the same information can be extracted using the Likert format and the binary one. In adittion, the students were more used to the binary surveys and they preferred it. For both reasons, it is encouraged to use the binary format instead the Likert scale survey
