INFORMATION LITERACY SKILLS IN THE FIRST YEAR COURSES AT TWO SAUDI UNIVERSITIES : A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Using content analysis methodology, this proposed study will evaluate the first year courses in two colleges at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah and Princess Norah University in Riyadh. The purpose of the study is to measure the integration of information literacy skills into teaching and learning practices of those courses provided by these colleges. The study will use course syllabi to identify topics related to teaching information sources, tools, searching techniques, libraries and information centers. The study findings and recommendations should play a wise and correct role in integrating teaching information literacy skills in the first year courses.
