Abstract:
Students' attendance registration in the university education system is an essential activity. Manual student attendance process with enormously increasing number of students in big universities may involve circulating a sheet to students for registering their names , or the instructors calling out their names that's quite a time consuming process. Additionally, this effort seeking activity causes registering false attendance. However, using mobile apps to speed up the process of attendance registration by university instructors would save lecturing time and hence speed up the educational process. This research project aims for registering students' attendance electronically rather than manually. The project named Electronic Attendance-Tracking system (EAS) solves this problem by taking the attendance electronically using the Bluetooth technology. The proposed model in this research is based on the indoor positioning system iBeacon technology that offers signal for business to promote their presence to nearby mobile phones. It also discusses how the system verifies students' identity to eliminate false registrations. The communication between the user and the system is done through the graphical user interface (GUI) that was designed in mobile apps and linked to the university academic information systems. The system users can keep track of attendance activities like attendance taking, attendance termination, excuses registration, and many more. Keywords:
