Abstract:
Modern times are characterized by an explosion of knowledge in all walks of life. In face of this continual development in human knowledge, curricula in general and social studies curricula in particular are no more able to cope with this challenge. Therefore, retrieving target information via the Internet enables both teachers and students to keep abreast of prevailing knowledge and modern technologies, thus accessing renewed information through information networks and databases. Since the curricula in social studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been recently created, exploiting the internet to enrich them may contribute to improving their ultimate outcomes. This research aims to be acquainted both with the status of internet use in enriching the curricula and the attitudes of female instructors at the intermediate level in social studies in Riyadh. The research methodology rests on the descriptive method as one of the most viable way to determine the extent of the instructors’ use of the Internet and their attitudes towards exploiting it in order to enrich the curriculum. The research population includes all female social studies instructors at the intermediate level in Riyadh city for the school year 2012. The research tools involve a questionnaire and a scale developed by the researcher according to the pedagogical literature, previous related studies, and specialists’ opinions in order to measure the extent of Internet use to enrich the curriculum and the attitude of female instructors towards the use of the Internet in social studies. The collected data will be analyzed using suitable statistical methods
