Abstract:
The comparison of national and international reports makes clear that industrial design is a positive tool for enterprise's economic growth. However, according to the quantitative information available, Spain hasn't understood the binomial "Design and Enterprise" the same way other countries have, considering vital, both on a social and industrial level, as in economical and political matters. This fact is partly and directly responsible for the weakness of Spanish SMEs (Small and medium sized enterprises) and those from countries with a similar situation to our country. This is due, according to Buil et.al., to the existence of three factors of distrust.
Based on these factors, during the 2016/2017 course, a dual vocational training case of study collaborating with a company located in Cádiz was planned and carried out at the University of Cadiz. This was a work strategy within the subject of "Creation of New Products", which aimed to minimize this distrust through the work with students from University of Cadiz on these factors, and build new job opportunities for the graduate in Industrial Design and Product Development.
This paper describes and analyzes the case study of the experience from the perspective of the student, the Company and teaching team. The students experience has been collected through a survey answered by them.
According to the data obtained, the experience has been positive and the motivation in the students has been greater than in works carried out in a traditional way, but also have been detected some negative data that could be improved in future implementations, in addition to the need to increase the level of dual training component applied in order to achieve the connection between employee and company.
