THE IMPACT OF THE DIVERSITY OF ADVANCED ORGANIZER IN BLENDED LEARNING ON THE SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS IN TECHNICAL SECONDARY EDUCATION AT KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the diversity of the advanced organizer in blended learning on the achievement and skills of industrial secondary school students.
This study was an attempt to test the following hypotheses:
1- There is a difference between the effect of delivering advanced organizers with multimedia and mixed media on achievement in Industry Principles Course for the first year industrial students.
2- There is a difference between the impacts of delivering advanced organizers with multimedia and with mixed media on skills in Industry Principles course for the first year industrial students.
Experimental method was used in this study to verify both hypotheses. Participants were 60 students from the first year industrial in Shaikh Khalifa Institute for Sciences and Technology located in Muharraq district . The sample was randomly assigned into three groups: (1) first experimental group (n=20) who were taught using the Advanced Organizer technique with multimedia in integrated learning, (2) second experimental group (n=20) who were taught using the Advanced Organizer technique with mixed media in integrated learning, and (3) control group (n=20) who were taught with traditional methods. An Achievement Test was administered for assessing students’ achievement in Measurement Unit from Industry Principles Course to test the first hypothesis. A check list of practical skills was used to investigate the second hypothesis. Results indicate that there is a significant effect for the type of the advanced organizer in blended learning on achievement and practical skills. Recommendations include the importance of designing the advanced organizer in Blended Learning by using multimedia for increasing achievement and practical skills.
