Abstract:
This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of using a proposed teaching strategy based on Marzano's model on the students’ mathematics achievement in the TIMSS domains (knowledge, application, reasoning ). Also, it aims to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy on the students’ productive disposition. This study used a mixed-method. Four different instruments were used to answer the research questions. Two instruments were primarily quantitative, which are mathematics achievement test and productive disposition scale. Also, two qualitative tools were used: the interview and participants' observation. The study sample consisted of (45) grade eight students, which divided into two groups, an experimental group which taught using the proposed strategy and control group which taught using the traditional method. The study findings demonstrated that the use of the proposed strategy significantly improves students’ mathematical achievement in the post-test and is better than the traditional teaching methods. This improvement occurred with the students’ mathematics achievement in the three-domain of the TIMSS (knowledge, application, reasoning ) .also, here is robust evidence that using the proposed strategy improved students’ productive disposition. Also, students expressed their satisfaction with the strategy and its benefits., and the study found that the proposed strategy helped students to enhance their self-efficiency.
