Abstract:
There is a huge emergence in students who used social media, or more specifically, in the field of education. Through social media, individuals have access to new educational opportunities that were unthinkable just fifteen years ago, such as when, how, where, and with whom to learn. Additionally, the interaction between learners and lecturers, colleagues, and knowledge sharing has had a big influence on students' enthusiasm, which in turn, does have a great effect on students' educational excellence. In light of this breakthrough, the notable fact is that employing online social media for teamwork encourages learners to be more sophisticated, vibrant, and research-focused. Social media is now being used by students, teachers, and individuals for a variety of academic and non-academic purposes. However, the preponderance of the literature that has been reported, delivers on how learners perceive social media's impact on learning. There hasn't been much research done on how social media affects education. Generally, social media usage proves to be beneficial for society, but on the other hand, as time goes on, social media has begun to have a detrimental impact on society in general attributed to the millions of individuals who use applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter to get unhealthy addicted to the most recent events. All social media platforms can be accessed over the Internet, and allow users to interact with one another, develop new types of textual, visual, and audio materials, and exchange them with others. social media has a big impact on how people live since that provides important support in a variety of areas, including the governmental, commercial, and educational domains. Education strategies have changed massively in past decades due to the outgrowth of social media platforms and digital innovations as facilitators of novel circumstances. Globally, social media is significant for the general public, students, and teachers. The current social networking sites, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Messenger, and IMO, are included in the current investigation. The study proposed a secondary data analysis, which incorporates some updated research articles, for this objective. A documented examination of the articles listed in Academia's Journal Citation Reports of the Web of Science was done for this aim, and 20 research papers were chosen to derive the outcomes of the research article. The current study was broken down into five categories for the analysis, including digital teaching and learning expertise, social media as a tool for building virtual environments and educational communities, the teaching-learning process facilitated by social networks as an instructional resource at various stages of education, problems and addictions resulting from the use of social media and social movements and expectations in the domain of education through social media. The purpose of this paper is to review the scientific literature which has addressed the usage of general social media in various educational contexts. The research article also aims to identify the possible uses of social networks in knowledge acquisition and to highlight the significance of social media platforms and digital media in education. The key findings from this secondary data analysis will be used as suggestions for upcoming studies, lectures, and other institutions involved in social media education.
